Spring Quote Assignment

Picture
I picked the Spring Quote assignment as one of my favorite assignments from this semester, because I truly enjoyed every aspect of this assignment. Thinking up a place to go that has lots of flowers wasn't too difficult, I could just hop over to Sky Nursery to snap some pics fairly quickly, or go to my front yard where I took this picture. All the flowers and trees that I could ever possibly want to capture were there, and most of them were in full bloom. Picking a quote that fit what I wanted to shoot was a little harder, but there are just so many options online, I found the one I wanted fairly quickly.

Destination Magazine Assignment

Picture
For the Destination Magazine project we had over Mid-Winter Break, I went to Friday Harbor, in the San Juan Islands. The weather on the day we went was beautiful, and it wasn't super crowded at all so we never had to deal with lines or waiting for that long to get on the ferry. We toured the actual town of Friday Harbor, and then later in the afternoon, we drove around the island. This picture is of a lighthouse that was on the northwest side of the island. It was fairly old, and it was closed, but it created a great picture with the horizon of Canada in the background, and the contrasting rocks. I think it captured the essence of the San Juan's very accurately

Silhouette Assignment

Picture
The Silhouette Assignment was one of my favorites probably because of the simplicity of the photos. The only part about the photo that really draws your eyes to it are the subjects. There aren't any crazy colors, or patterns, or details. It was fun to experiment with the fan and my subjects' hair to try to get the best silhouette, and by capturing their profile, you could really define the shape of their face, or hands, or whatever the main subject was. Setting up the set was fairly easy too. We just hung up a sheet (not taut, but with some wrinkles and dips to add dimension) and set up one of the studio lights behind it, and turned off the overhead lights.

Random Pictures from Random Assignments

So these don't really have a lot of bulk to their original assignments, so I thought I would just combine them into one big section.

Photomerge Assignment - basically compiling several pics taken from the same angle

Picture
So the essence of this assignment was that we took pictures from the same angle, but with different things going on in each pic and then merging them into one... make sense? It will if you look at the pictures.
